Better GMail Extension Powers Up GMail’s New Interface

gmail.jpgGina Trapani over at Lifehacker has released a new version of her Better GMail Firefox extension with support for the new GMail interface. Although Better GMail 2 is not as robust as the earlier version, if you’re a heavy GMail user you’ll appreciate the added workflow tools.

So far the new version contains the Macros script we mentioned the other day, as well as a few others, and you can expect that, as the individual script developers begin to re-write their enhancements, the new versions will be rolled into Better GMail.

Also, with GMail now offering support for Greasemonkey, complete with a documented API, it shouldn’t be too long before we see even more cool GMail tweaks.

If you know of a script that works with the new interface and want to see about getting it included in the Better GMail add-on, head over to Lifehacker and drop them a link in the comments.

The original version of Better GMail is still available if you prefer using the old GMail interface. Unfortunately the two add-ons will clash if they’re both activated at the same time, so if you have some accounts in the new interface and some still in the old, it’s probably a better idea to stick with the old if you want to use Better GMail.
