Birdhouse: A Twitter Scratch Pad for Writers

Birdhouse is a brand new Twitter client for the iPhone, but it’s considerably different than most Twitter clients. In fact, Birdhouse isn’t so much a Twitter client as a Twitter scratch pad for those who take their 140 character posts very, very seriously.

The idea behind Birdhouse is to save drafts of Twitter posts for later editing, rewriting or rethinking — the perfect app for those that think of Twitter as, you know, writing.

Birdhouse is also good for those who frequently find themselves in trouble after posting some drunken, late night tweets. No need to go public with your drunken thoughts, just save them as drafts in Birdhouse and sleep on the ideas. Birdhouse won’t replace your favorite iPhone Twitter client. You’ll still need another app like Twittie or Twitteriffic or Tweetsville to view other people’s tweets. All Birdhouse does is offer the ability to save your posts as Twitter drafts.

We know what you’re thinking, “A Twitter draft client is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard.” It certainly isn’t for everyone, but if you agonize over the perfect wording in your Twitter posts, you’ll love Birdhouse. In fact, you’ll probably wonder why other Twitter clients don’t offer a way to save drafts.

Birdhouse has a few other features that make it useful, like ability to save drafts in airplane mode (perfect for capturing ideas when you’re offline) and to easily unpublish tweets should you have a change of heart.

Plus the marketing video for Birdhouse is one of the cleverest software promos we’ve ever seen.

Birdhouse is available now from the App Store for $4.
