Death to Gimmicky Design Trends

The Tokyo-based blog PingMag has this list of trends in web design that, according to the predictions of the author, will go the way of the ghost in a matter of months. He argues that the design trends attached to the growth of Web 2.0 will eventually fizz out and become passe. And in his opinion, that’s not soon enough.

So what’s on the list? Your usual Web 2.0 eye candy: pixel fonts, gradient fills, those gaudy supermarket-style labels, shinyness, and script.aculo.us effects. Curiously, no CSS rounded corners or JavaScript nifty corners. You know what that means — rounded corners are here to stay. You heard it here first.
