IPhone Developers Get a Boost With Arrival of iUI

Joe Hewitt was one of the stars of last weekend’s iPhoneDevCamp. His iPhone nav templates — a simple bundle of stylesheets and JavaScript code he created for developers to build iPhone-optimized web apps — were the hit of the party. Several developers in attendance thanked him personally while demoing their apps in front of the crowd, and Joe received a special recognition prize on Sunday from the event organizers.

Since his templates became the de facto iPhone web app interface last week, Joe has officially launched the project under the name iUI. In a post on his blog on Wednesday, Joe outlines the changes he’s made to the original hack, including optimization for Ajax and better scrolling. He’s also put together an improved iPhone version of Digg using iUI.
