Make Firefox Look Like a Native KDE Application

When Firefox 3 was released one of the big changes was the new platform native look — Firefox on a Mac looks like a Mac app, Firefox on Windows looks like a Windows app. When it comes to Linux though there are a several desktop possibilities and Mozilla opted to go with Gnome.

Given the widespread popularity of Ubuntu (Ubuntu’s main distro uses Gnome), it was the logical choice. However many KDE Firefox fans were left with a browser that looks out of place — especially if you’re using the new KDE 4 oxygen theme.

But of course Firefox is themeable and I recently came across a theme designed specifically for KDE that takes advantage of the Oxygen interface and makes Firefox look like a native KDE app (even if it isn’t).

The only downside is that theme is currently an alpha project so there may be some bugs. Still, if you’re looking for a way to make Firefox fit the visual aesthetic of KDE, this theme is the best I’ve seen. Unfortunately I don’t have a KDE machine to test it on, so if you give it a try be sure to let us know in the comments.
