New Joost Channels Highlight Your Favorite Videos

joost.jpgWith the writesr’ strike dragging on there’s precious little new content left on television, and with online content pouring in at ever-increasing rates now should the perfect time to abandon TV altogether, but where to go for your video entertainment?

Joost, the video streaming service isn’t perfect (see our earlier review), and much of its core content consists of licensed television shows, but a recent deal with the indie music and film site OurStage, could help change that.

OurStage, which works something like the old KittenWar, except here you judge music and movies side by side, will be offering up its user-picked hits to Joost viewers in four new channels. There’s the Best of OurStage Shorts, Best of OurStage Comedy, OurStage Music Videos and OurStage Artist Access.

Unfortunately, after playing around with the raw content on OurStage for a bit, the most charitable thing I can say about is that it’s a mixed bag. To be honest, of the six videos I watched, I only made it all the way to the end of one. Of course the human rating element theoretically filters out the cruft leaving Joost users with quality content.

But, as with most user generated video content, the main thing that really hit home watching OurStage is that, well, I miss the writers.
