NewsFire RSS Reader Free for Mac Users

newsfire.jpgNewsFire, the very slick Mac OS X RSS reader, is now available for free with no limitations. Dave Watanabe, creator of NewsFire and other OS X apps, announced today that he is doing away with the paid version and henceforth NewsFire will be free (as in beer).

The move is no doubt something of a response to NewsGator’s announcement that its NetNewsWire RSS app would be a free download, but since NewsGator also has the online syncing features, the company can still make money on advertising. NewsFire on the other hand is simply a client, with no online syncing component.

Watanabe says it’s an act of good will or, possibly he admits, stupidity. Whatever the case, NewsFire is undoubtedly one of the best looking RSS readers on the Mac OS X platform. If you like ‘em shiny, grab yourself a copy of the newly free NewsFire from the NewsFire download page.
