Opera Mini 4 Brings The Web To Your Mobile Phone

DimensionOpera has released the final version of Opera Mini 4, a slimmed down version of the popular web browser. Opera Mini is a free download and runs on just about any mobile device.

The final release version sees Opera Mini gain support for the company’s recently announced Opera Link, a service that synchronizes bookmarks across all versions of the web browser.

Opera Mini also now features something the company calls “Overview Mode.” The Opera blog says that the new Overview rendering architecture allows you to view webpages full screen before zooming in on the section you want. “When you first load a webpage, Opera Mini will show you an overview snapshot of the page; using the new mouse cursor you can instantly zoom in to the selected region of the page.”

The final release of version 4.0 takes a tip from the iPhone and dynamically changes the size of the text on webpages to fit the width of your phone’s screen. Okay there’s no pinch and throw navigation like the iPhone, but at least it cuts down on horizontal scrolling.

Other notable features in the new release include a context menu with shortcuts for reloading the page and viewing link destinations, number key shortcutsfor faster navigation, a landscape viewing mode and more.

You can grab the newest version of Mini from the Opera site.
