Post From Your iPhone With Six Apart’s New ‘BlogIt’ Features

BlogitSix Apart has expanded its BlogIt service beyond Facebook and onto your iPhone. No it isn’t the iPhone-native app that the company demoed at Apple’s WWDC; this a still a web-app, but it makes it much easier to update and post entries from your iPhone to any of the supported blogging services.

You can access the new iPhone-optimized version of BlogIt through Typepad at http://blogit.typepad.com/.

BlogIt began life in April as a way to concurrently post items to Facebook and a number of popular blogging services. Today’s announcement didn’t see any new services, but if you use Movable Type, TypePad, Vox, LiveJournal, Blogger or Wordpress, BlogIt has you covered.

Realistically, most people probably don’t want to write entire blog posts from their iPhone, which is why BlogIt can also update your status across a number of social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Pownce, FriendFeed, and Jaiku. Status updates are much more suited to the cramped, painfully small keyboard on the iPhone.

The only real question about the announcement is, why bother? With a native app in the works, the BlogIt iPhone interface has a short lifespan (unless Six Apart knows something we don’t — perhaps the iPhone App Store is delayed?).

Whatever the case, if you’ve been itching for a way to use BlogIt outside of Facebook, the new interface has what you’ve been wanting.
