Supersize Your Flickr Photos With Blow Up

BlowupHave you ever wanted to view your Flickr photos in a nice fullscreen slideshow? Flickr’s own slideshow viewer is okay, but sometimes you want something bigger, which is why I’ve been enjoying Blow Up.

Blow Up is a simple, one-trick pony site, but it’s a very nice trick — grab your entire Flickr photostream, sort it by photo sets and pipe it into Flash for display.

By using Flash, Blow Up gives you access to the fullscreen mode, so you can enjoy your photos and take advantage of that huge monitor you spent so much money on.

All you need to do is head to the site and plugin your Flickr username. Blow Up will then load your photo sets as thumbnails that float along the top of the screen. Click a set to select it and start a slideshow. Want to send the show to friends? No problem, just send the Blow Up URL.

There’s also a downloadable version with the .swf, crossdomin.xml and other necessary files to run Blow Up on your own site. The only thing missing is the source .fla file, but for most people there’s no need to tinker with code — just put in your Flickr name and enjoy.
