Tech talk by the cup or bowl

Most sites aimed at developers don’t service any one community in particular, so it’s refreshing to see the folks over at Techsoup.org doing something different. Techsoup is a developer’s resource specifically for people running websites and managing technical assets in the non-profit community.

As many of you may know from first-hand experience, web developers new to the scene (or, in some cases, still in school) looking for experience are routinely encouraged to offer their tech skills to a non-profit organization. These newly minted developers sometimes find themselves overwhelmed or in need of guidance on their first big project, and Techsoup is a good place to turn for expert advice.

The learning experience at Techsoup is divided up between informational how-to articles and threads on the community boards. Members can post comments, start thread topics, ask questions, and provide answers. Since the membership community is made up of non-profit workers, they also receive discounts on materials like software and books.

Check out the moderated discussions on software, hardware, and fundraising, among other topics.
