The Nightly Build: Tuesday January 23

NightlybuildThe Nightly Build, something to do while the sun goes down.

  • A Texas court has ruled that deep linking violates copyright law. According the UK-based Register, “observers have criticized the judge for failing to understand the internet.” Imagine that — a judge from a progressive state like Texas not understanding the internets — Who’da thunkit? (My apologies to the stronghold of Austin, TX. A rescue party has been dispatched, until then, stay strong.)

  • Mozilla has reportedly released a new beta of Thunderbird 2.0. Unfortunately I can’t seem to connect to the page and start a download. When I do get my hands on a copy I’ll let you know if it fixes some the issues in beta 1.

  • An Apple rumor site no one’s ever heard of that appears to have been around for about a week is claiming that Apple will hold a special event on February 20th to announce Leopard, iLife ‘07, and updated Mac Pros. Believe at your own risk.

  • Since the folks over at Table of Malcontents haven’t thus far remarked on it, I thought I’d let everyone know that the anime tentacle porn that briefly appeared for sale on Walmart.com, has been removed. Just one more reason to boycott Walmart.

  • Breaking News: DRM still sucks.
