You Seem to Have Navigated to the Internet Cesspit Known as MySpace…

MyspaceceespitSome might have caved over the years, but I remain strong in my total MySpace ban. Not counting the developer pages, which I have visited numerous times on behalf of monkey_bites readers, I’ve probably visited MySpace about three times and on each occasion I came away feeling less sure of humanity.

To make sure I can maintain my basic faith in humanity and stick to my MySpace ban, I just installed a fabulous Firefox plugin by the name of AmIOnMySpace.com? The concept is simple: if you accidentally follow a link to MySpace, the plug-in pops up a giant yellow warning window and allows you to safely navigate away before you sully your browser with the visual horrors of MySpace.

TechCrunch calls the plugin useless, but funny. I beg to disagree; MySpace is an affront to everything good on the web and ability to avoid it is very useful.

Naturally you might feel differently, but for me AmIOnMySpace.com? has earned a place in my list of must-have Firefox add-ons. Now if the developers would just update it so it works with Firefox 3 I’d be all set.
