Zoho Launches Facebook’s First Office Suite

Zoho_logo

Hey students, turn off the Bob Marley and listen up. Now you can type an Engish paper, plan your weekend and chat with the hottie from chem lab all on the same website.

Online office software maker Zoho launched a version of its productivity suite on Facebook today. The company is offering its Writer word processor, Sheet spreadsheet tool and Show presentation builder on Facebook’s rapidly growing open application platform. As Zoho’s Raju Vegesna tells Wired News in an e-mail, 30% of his company’s users are students, so porting its suite over to Facebook was a no-brainer. Zoho is reaching out — just last week, it delighted soon-to-be iPhone owners with a version of Zoho Writer for the iPhone’s limited Safari browser.

ZohofacebookAlso included in the release is a central control panel where users can manage all of their private and shared documents within Facebook. As Raju outlines in a blog post on Monday, Zoho plans to release a similar feature for its regular non-Facebook suite, bringing it closer to its main competitor, Google Docs and Spreadsheets. Google’s application suite has a centralized document management center for individuals and groups.
