Web 2.2: Crashing The 2.0 Party

2point2
Big name, big money conferences like this week’s Web 2.0 Summit always generate a huge amount of industry buzz, so it’s inevitable that a cheeky spin-off would emerge to soak up some glory of its own.

The second annual Web 2.2 unconference (last year’s event was called Web 2.1) is happening about five blocks east of the invite-only Web 2.0 show. Web 2.2 kicked off this morning and runs through Friday at the Microsoft center at One Market in San Francisco.

The agenda is what you would expect from a Web 2.x meeting of the minds: lots of talk about webapps, monetization, communities, user trust and copyright. There’s also a party tonight at Fluid featuring a Dave Matthews cover band.
