Let's say you want to have a birthday party and invite all of your friends. Why go through all the trouble of writing a bunch of invitations by hand and sending them out when you can just make one Web site? Then your friends can go to the Web page and find out what's going on, and you can get back to making your birthday gift list. Sound good? Then let's go for it.
1. Figure out what kind of party you're going to have and when it's going to be. Then decide what sort of pictures you'll need to decorate your invitation. You can either make your own pictures or get them from someplace else (see the Images lesson for help doing this).
2. Click on one of the pictures to the right. We've made two sample invitations: one for a cowboy party and one for a sleepover.
3. Look at the source code for the invitation. Copy this code and paste it into your text editor (if you don't have one, look in our Tools section).
4. Change the HTML code so it has your pictures instead of ours. Also be sure to change the time and date of the party so everyone will show up at the right time. You can also change the background color if you want. We left some hints and instructions in the code to help you along.
5. Put your site on the Web and tell your friends the address. Then sit back, relax, and wait for the fun to begin. Note: Don't let anybody in the door unless they have a present for you.
