Is Money Well Legit? (My Honest Review!)
Money Well, a gaming rewards app for Android, is a legit Android gaming app that's been growing in popularity. This app has over 10 million downloads, and it says you can earn gift cards and PayPal cash in exchange for trying out new games.
But is this app worth downloading? And how much can you actually make by playing games on your phone?
I downloaded the app to test it out. And my Money Well review is covering how this app works and its earning potential so you can decide if it's worth using.
Key Takeaways:
- Money Well is a legit Android app that pays you to play games
- It's similar to apps like Cash Giraffe, Mistplay, and Rewarded Play
- You can exchange your tickets for PayPal money and various gift cards
- Money Well pays about $1 to $2 per most according to our tests
- We recommend using this app, but have realistic expectations about how much it pays
Is Money Well Legit?
Money Well is legit and lets you earn PayPal money and free gift cards by playing new mobile games in your spare time. It also has over 10 million downloads and an average rating of 4.3 stars out of 5, so it's very popular.
Most negative Money Well reviews come from users who are unhappy with the game variety or the fact that you slowly earn fewer tickets the more you play a game. But if you've used other gaming reward platforms like Freecash or Scrambly, you should enjoy using Money Well.
This is the downside and reality for most apps that pay you for playing games, not just Money Well. So, think of this app as a fun side hustle, not a full-time job.
What Is Money Well?
Money Well is an Android app that pays you for downloading and playing new games on your phone. The app currently has over 10 million downloads, making it one of the most popular gaming rewards apps alongside apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play.
JustDice, the company that owns Money Well, has plenty of other games in this genre as well. Popular titles include the likes of Cashyy, Cash Giraffe, and many others.
Like its other games, Money Well is completely free to download and is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK, and many European countries. The app pays you to try out new mobile games. In exchange for playing, you earn tickets which are redeemable for PayPal cash and a range of gift cards.
That's all there is to it. There aren't other earning methods like paid surveys or sponsored offers to complete. All you have to do is download Money Well, explore its games library, and then download new games to begin earning rewards.
How Does Money Well Work?
As mentioned, Money Well is similar to apps like Mistplay and other paid PayPal gaming apps.
I downloaded the app to test it out for this review. It's very easy to use, and overall, it takes four steps to earn rewards:
- Download Money Well
- Download sponsored games
- Refer your friends
- Cash out
1. Download The App
You can download Money Well if you have an Android device. If you have an iPhone, you should read my post on the best iOS games for money instead since Money Well doesn't have an iOS app currently.
Also note that there's a budgeting app called MoneyWell, so make sure you search and download the right app.
Once you download Money Well, you create an account by connecting through Facebook or Google. You also have to grant app tracking permission to use Money Well. This lets the app track how long you play sponsored games for so it can pay you tickets properly.
Other gaming apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play also have this requirement, so know that it's normal. But if you're not comfortable with this type of app usage tracking, this isn't the best way to make money online.
After you grant permissions, you also receive a sign up bonus. For me, I got 4499 tickets. This helps users reach their first cash out faster which is always nice.
2. Play New Mobile Games
The main way to make money with Money Well is to download games from its sponsored library.
Every game tells you how many tickets per minute it pays. Some of the games in my Money Well library include:
- Scratch Cards
- Amazon Shopper Panel
- Farm Heroes Saga
- Slotomania
- Bingo Cash
- Color & Friends
- Pet Master
Many games pay around 70 to 150 tickets per minute. I downloaded Farm Heroes Saga, and sure enough, after playing it for a couple of minutes, I got notifications that I was receiving Money Well tickets.
However, the longer you play a game, the fewer tickets you receive per minute. This is how Money Well encourages you to keep downloading apps. If you find a game you really like, this is pretty annoying.
I also think other gaming apps like Gamehag and AppStation have slightly better game variety than Money Well. This is the case where I live, anyways.
3. Refer Your Friends
Money Well's referral program pays you 250 tickets for each player you invite to the app. You also receive a referral bonus commission of 25% of whatever they earn in points.
Your friend also receives a 25% on your earnings – so both of you have an incentive to keep playing and earning.
To invite someone, click on the My Apps section of your app, and then click the Invite button. From there you can decide how many people to invite. Invitations to Money Well can be sent out via text or email.
This isn't a great sign up bonus, and apps like Swagbucks and MyPoints pay you around $5 to $10 for joining. But it's nice that Money Well pays you lifetime bonuses depending how much your friends earn.
Cashing Out & Rewards
You redeem your tickets for PayPal money and a range of gift cards. However, the minimum redemption amount depends on the reward you select and where you live.
For example, I need 4,999 tickets to redeem a $0.50 PayPal cash reward. Other reward options include coupons to certain stores and free gift cards to companies like:
- Amazon
- Best Buy
- Google Play Credit
- Home Depot
- iTunes
- Starbucks
Gift cards have various redemption requirements but generally take 10,000 to 20,000 tickets to redeem a $5 card. This makes PayPal the best and fastest method to cash out with.
However, you need to verify your identity by submitting a selfie before you cash out for the first time. This is pretty standard for reward apps so keep this in mind before downloading.
Does Money Well Pay Real Money?
Money Well pays real money and lets users cash out. Most games pay around 100 to 150 tickets per minute when you first play them. This means that you can probably earn a few dollars per hour with Money Well at the start if you download and play several games.
With the sign up bonus, reaching your first $0.50 PayPal reward only takes about 10 minutes. This is similar to apps like JustPlay and Cash Cow which let you cash out every few hours.
Ultimately, if you want to get paid to play video games, Money Well is a viable option. Just have realistic expectations and know that you're only earning a few dollars per hour at most.
Other Money Well Reviews
I tested out Money Well, and overall, I think this real money gaming app is legit and easy to use. But one of the best ways to tell if a side hustle is legit or not is to see what other users have to say. And, thankfully, there are plenty of other Money Well app reviews on the Google Play Store:
- R Brown says: “Not a scam. Money went to my PayPal within a few hours. I did notice at times maybe there was a connection issue for the app to track (not on my end). I'm not sure if it was random, or happened when closer to being able to cash out $10 paypal. Also be aware that the longer you play a game, the more the payout rate decreases.”
- Ronnie Vaughn says: “They do payout. The problem is they don't credit the right amount of points to you. I played one game for an hour and got credit for 5 minutes. I have referred someone who has gotten quite a few points and it says I get 25%. I added up what I'm supposed to have received and it's nowhere close.”
- Fallon Barnes says: “Thus far I have cashed out 2 times successfully to my Paypal. Downside is that it takes forever to get through the suggested games. For example I've downloaded and played a couple of the games religiously the the ads required in those games are constant and total scams. MONEY WELL is not a scam although it does take a rediculous amount of points to cash out.”
As you can see, Money Well does payout and isn't a scam. But many users report issues with tracking tickets and referral bonuses. This is a downside with many real money apps, not just Money Well. But it's why this money-making idea isn't too lucrative.

The Best Apps Like Money Well

Some of the best apps like Money Well you can use to earn rewards include:
- Cash Giraffe: Another leading Android gaming app that pays.
- Freecash: Earn with over 100+ fun gaming offers and paid surveys.
- Scrambly: A great website and app that also has gaming rewards.
- Rewarded Play: One of my favorite apps with a fast $5 cash out minimum.
- Mistplay: Another leading gaming app with better game variety than Money Well.
- Swagbucks: This site lets you make money by answering surveys, downloading apps, shopping online, and playing paid trivia games.
- Kashkick: Another rewards platform with survey and gaming offers.

- InboxDollars: This U.S. rewards site pays you to complete online surveys and play games and has a $5 bonus.
Ultimately, these ideas aren't going to make anyone a millionaire. But they're easy, fun jobs you can do from your phone. And if you already spend time gaming, it's basically making money on autopilot.
Is Money Well A Scam?
Money Well isn't a scam, and the app pays out users and has plenty of payment proof. However, many users complain that the app is glitchy. Verification problems are also common, and I dislike having to take a selfie to verify my account before cashing out.
The fact games pay fewer tickets over time is also a downside. Overall, this app isn't a scam, but it doesn't pay very much.
Final Thoughts
I hope this Money Well review lets you understand how this gaming app works and decide if it's worth downloading.
Personally, I think apps like JustPlay, Mistplay, and Cash Giraffe are much better starting points. But if you've already tried those apps, you can certainly branch into using Money Well.
Just have realistic expectations about how much money you can make. This app is a fun side hustle, but other gig apps or online business ideas have higher earning potential.
