Is Thrifty Pig Legit?
Thrifty Pig is a legit survey site and lets members earn cash and gift cards by sharing their opinions. It's also highly rated, with a 3.9 star rating on Trustpilot and over 100 reviews. However, this site is low-paying, so it won't make you a full-time income.
This is the case with all cash survey sites. And I also admit, Thrifty Pig is a bit outdated compared to some of the larger companies in the space like Branded Surveys or Survey Junkie.
That said, if you're looking for an easy way to get paid for your opinion, Thrifty Pig could be a good fit. It also has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and great customer service, so it's a reliable side hustle.
What Is ThriftyPig & What Does It Offer?
Thrifty Pig is a free survey site where you can get PayPal cash and Amazon gift cards by sharing your opinion. And you can sign up if you're 18 or older and live in the United States or Canada.
The platform is similar to other survey websites like Ipsos iSay or Pinecone Research. And it's really a simple way to make some side cash just by answering questions.
Once you sign up, you have to verify your email and fill out a brief profile questionnaire. You earn 25 coins ($0.25) for signing up and 50 coins ($0.50) for filling out your profile. Thrifty Pig asks you questions about your occupation, income, education, and other demographic details so it can match you to the best surveys.
From there, you can fill out additional profile questionnaires to unlock more surveys. Alternatively, start earning by completing available surveys on your dashboard.
Thrifty Pig surveys tell you how many coins they pay and have a rough time estimate. When we tested out the site, most surveys paid between $0.15 and $1.
This isn't the highest-paying survey site out there. And personally, I prefer Branded Survey and Survey Junkie since they have higher payouts and a better user interface.
Additionally, Thrifty Pig is a little glitchy at times, so disqualifications mid-survey can happen. It doesn't have a survey app either, which is a downside for mobile users.
On the bright side, Thrifty Pig has lots of available surveys when we tested it out. Just note that you actually complete surveys on external survey sites—meaning, the surveys are not within the Thrifty Pig website.
One survey we took was about potential packaging for a Nature Made vitamin product. Another one asked if have operated a chainsaw within the past six months or purchased a Segway. Never a dull moment taking surveys for cash!
Cashing Out & Rewards
Thrifty Pig requires 500 coins to cash out a $5 reward. You can redeem coins for PayPal money, check, or for free Amazon gift cards.
When cashing out the first time, you have to verify your identity. Be forewarned—some reviewers said this involved a verification phone call. Some reviewers thought this was scammy, but Thrifty Pig seems small enough of a company to connect with over the phone—their number is even listed on TrustPilot!

How Much Does ThriftyPig Pay?
How much Thrifty Pig pays depends on how much effort you put into answering surveys. But for most users, earning $5 to $20 a week with this site should be achievable.
Again, surveys generally pay $0.15 to $1. Here are a few survey options we saw, with the effective hourly rate:
- 40 coins ($0.40) for 15 minutes ($1.60 per hour)
- 75 coins ($0.75) for 16 minutes ($2.81 per hour)
- 60 coins ($0.60) for 19 minutes ( $1.89 per hour)
- 100 coins ($1.00) for 23 minutes ($2.60 per hour)
As you can see, there is a wide range of payment for surveys. Moreover, surveys that seem appealing (100 coins for 23 minutes) may not be worth as much in the long run as others—75 coins for 16 minutes, for instance, will give you more in the long run.
Also note that you can earn more by completing each of your profiles. These profiles also pay a $0.10 bonus and help you unlock additional surveys.

Thrifty Pig is not a scam. It used to be an invite-only site and you needed a referral code to sign up. However, it appears they’ve dropped that requirement. Lacking an app, Thrifty Pig just doesn’t seem as popular as other survey sites—but it is legit.

Final Thoughts
I hope this Thrifty Pig review helps you decide if this survey site is worth using or not.
Honestly, the fact this site is less popular is a selling point since surveys don't fill up as often. However, there are some website glitches. Payouts aren't the most competitive either.
But if you're a fan of online surveys and want to try out another option, you can always give Thrifty Pig a try!
