MySoapBox Review – Is This Survey Site Legit & Worth It?
One of the most common online side hustles you can start is to answer surveys for money. And if you want an easy way to make a bit of extra money on the side, it's a pretty straightforward option.
However, there are hundreds of survey sites out there. And the sad truth is that many aren't worth your time or don't pay enough to ever be worth it.
One popular platform you've probably heard of is MySoapBox. It lets you share you opinion to earn free gift cards in your spare time.
But is MySoapBox legit? And how much can you really make with this survey site?
I sign up and tested out MySoapBox to find out. And this MySoapBox review is covering how it works, what the earning potential is, and how to decide if it's worth your time.
Let's get to it.
What Is MySoapBox?
MySoapBox is a free survey website that rewards participants for sharing their opinions. It's available in the United States, Canada, and many countries in the EU, and you can sign up if you're 13 or older.
Like many other gpt sites, answering surveys for money is the main way to make money with MySoapBox. And this site lets you cash out your earnings for dozens of different gift card rewards.
If you've ever used paid survey sites like InboxDollars or MyPoints, MySoapBox is going to feel very familiar. It's simple, but it lets you share your opinion to get paid, and the company has thousands of active members.
It's also part of the Interviewing Service of America (ISA) Family of Companies, which includes other names like Q-insights and SoapBoxSample.
Overall, it's a well known market reseach companies out there and provides an easy way to make money online.
Is MySoapBox Legit?
Yes, MySoapBox is legit and has thousands of users from around the world. There's also plenty of payment proof online, and the site is part of a larger family of market research companies that pay users for sharing their opinions.
I was able to sign up and use MySoapBox, and the site didn't seem scammy whatsoever. Overall, it's a reliable way to earn money online as a beginner, and I like how many gift cards you can redeem.
However, some users complain that reaching the first 25,000 point cash out requirement can take a long time. And if you don't qualify for many surveys, this is certainly true.
The website itself can also be a bit buggy, which was one annoyance I faced. But it's a legitimate, online survey platform that pays its users.
How Does MySoapBox Work?
Getting started with MySoapBox is pretty simple, and I was able to sign up and start using the site within a matter of minutes.
I'll admit, the site is a bit old-school in terms of design, and things don't always load properly. But I still found it very easy to use and to start out.
All-in-all, MySoapBox works in four simple steps:
- Answer surveys
- Invite your friends
- Cash out
Time to cover each step and my experience with the platform in a bit more detail!
1. Sign Up & Complete Your Profile
Registering for MySoapBox is quick and easy. All you have to do is enter your name, email address, ZIP code, and create a password.
There are some complaints about not being able to sign up for MySoapBox, or that the site can lag and not load. One of the pages I entered my info on did this, so I had to re-enter a bit of information.
But if you live in a supported country, MySoapBox should let you sign up. Just make sure you're not on a VPN or you might run into some errors.
After you create your account and verify your email address, you also complete a short sign-up questionnaire. This is common for survey sites, and it helps MySoapBox match you to more relevant surveys.
Some of the questions MySoapBox asks you about include your:
- Ethnicity
- Income level
- Education level
- Household status and if you have kids
- Employment status
It took me about five minutes to sign up and complete my profile. Again, MySoapBox is very similar to other beermoney sites, so there's nothing too crazy here.
2. Answer Surveys
The main way to make money with MySoapBox is to answer surveys. You can't answer surveys the second you sign up. Instead, you get email invitations when a survey is available for you to answer or find open survey opportunities under the “Surveys” tab on the site.
You usually have to answer a few short questions to see if you qualify for an open survey. This doesn't take very long, and if you qualify, you can actually complete the survey to get paid.
When I signed up, I didn't get any survey invites for the first few hours. As you can see in my screenshot below, my dashboard was just empty for a while, which is a downside:
But once you can answer surveys, you'll find that most of them pay around 750 to 1,500 points, which is $0.75 to $1.50 worth of points.
You can find higher and lower-paying surveys, and how many you qualify for really depends on where you live and your demographic information.
3. Invite Your Friends
Like most survey websites, MySoapBox has a referral program that pays you for inviting your friends. You receive 250 points for every friend that you sign up, and they receive 250 points as well.
This referral bonus is the equivalent of 25 cents. Thi is rather low compared to many different websites, and you would need to refer 100 friends to make the first minimum payout of 25000 points.
This makes this referral bonus fairly low when compared to other websites, so if you’re going to recruit your friends to sign up, make sure it’s worth the effort.
4. Cash Out
MySoapBox has a 25,000 point minimum cash out requirement, which is worth $25. But once you redeem your first gift card, you can redeem future rewards at just $5.
This $25 first-time requirement is in place to help MySoapBox reduce spam and only pay out real users who are serious about using the platform.
However, it's one downside of the platform worth noting. After all, platforms like Branded Surveys and Survey Junkie only require $5 to cash out. And you can redeem rewards starting at $1 with Swagbucks.
Even so, I like MySoapBox since you have so many gift cards to choose from, including:
MySoapBox sends you electronic gift cards, and it takes around 7 to 10 business days to get your reward. You can also choose to donate your points to charity.
Note that you can't redeem free PayPal cash with MySoapBox, so this site is only useful if you want to get free gift cards and aren't looking for cash payments.
How Much Does MySoapBox Pay?
Surveys on MySoapBox pay around 750 to 1,500 points on average, which is worth $0.75 to $1.50. Surveys can take anywhere from 5 to 20+ minutes to complete, so you're looking at around $2 to $5 per hour in earning potential.
However, how much you earn depends on how many surveys you qualify, your answering speed, and some luck. If you don't get many survey invitations, you won't make that much per month with this website.
Overall, MySoapBox is an easy side hustle that you can use to make quick money in your spare time. But don't expect to earn hundreds or thousands of dollars per month with it.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Easy to sign up

Cons:
- It can take a while to qualify for surveys
- The referral program doesn't pay very much
- High $25 first-time minimum cash out requirement
- You can't redeem points for PayPal money or direct deposit
- Gift cards take 7 to 10 business days to arrive
- Not a high-paying sign up bonus
Other MySoapBox Reviews
Signing up and using MySoapBox was pretty easy, and I found the site very easy to use. But that's just my experience, and it's good to read other MySoapBox reviews to learn about other people's experiences.
If you look online on websites like Trustpilot, MySoapBox has mixed reviews, with a 2.3 average star rating at the time of writing. Here's what some other users had to say:
- Christina Hay says: “This site does not accept the activation of new members' accounts, although it sends them surveys to waste their time answering, but it does not allow them to redeem their points.”
- Emiko Harmon says: “I can't redeem my points. It is a scam!”
- Milton Randell says: “It's a simple site and easy to work, this is my first time on MySoapBox and I will invite my friends to join this site.”
Most of the negative MySoapBox reviews relate to issues signing up and redeeming rewards. I think a lot of this has to do with the site having glitches and not working well for everyone.
But for people where MySoapBox does work, they seem to enjoy the gift card variety and ease-of-use.
This MySoapBox review from YouTuber Online Marketing Reviews also covers how the platform works, how to sign up, and the rough earning potential if you want another opinion.
In short, I think MySoapBox is worth trying if you want free gift cards. But the first-time $25 minimum cash out requirement can take a few weeks to reach, so have realistic expectations.

The Best Sites Like MySoapBox
MySoapBox is a popular survey site, but it's not for everyone. This is largely because of the $25 cash out requirement and lack of PayPal rewards.
But after testing out dozens of survey sites and real money apps over the years, I've found plenty of ones that are effective ways to make money.
Some of my favorite MySoapBox alternatives you can use to keep making money include:
- Swagbucks: This popular rewards site pays you for answering surveys, shopping online, watching ads, and playing games.
- Branded Surveys: This survey website also lets you answer surveys to earn PayPal cash and gift cards. With a low payout threshold of just $5, Branded Surveys is free to sign up and is available to US, Canada and UK residents.
- Kashkick: A fun way to answer surveys and play games to get PayPal cash.
- Attapoll: A leading survey app with a low $2.50 cash out minimum.
- Survey Junkie: A higher paying survey website, surveys on Survey Junkie typically pay $2 to $5. And you can cash out at just $5!
- Pinecone Research: This premium research panel pays you $3 for each survey you complete.
- InboxDollars: A leading U.S. survey website that has a nice $5 bonus for new members.
I also made a video sharing some of my favorite survey apps and platforms you can use alongside MySoapBox.
None of these MySoapBox alternatives can make you rich or let you quit your day job. But they are easy ways to earn some free money in your spare time, and you don't need any special skills.

Final Thoughts
I hope this MySoapBox review helps you understand how this survey site works and if it's worth your time or not.
From my experience, it seems like a legit and easy way to earn a few extra gift cards per year in your spare time.
I wish the initial payout requirement was $5 like Branded Surveys and Survey Junkie, but hey, that's really the only main downside of the platform. And after your first reward, you can cash out at $5.
In any case, just remember that online surveys won't ever make you rich. If you want higher-paying hustles, I think you're better off with selling your skills as a freelancer, or using various gig economy apps.
