Mozilla to Push Firefox 3 With Upgrade Notices

FirefoxFirefox Download Day was a huge success, so successful in fact that it crashed Mozilla’s servers for a few hours. But despite the rush of early adopters trampling over servers to get the latest version of Firefox, not everyone has upgraded to Firefox 3.

Those continuing to live in blissful ignorance of Firefox 3 will soon be getting an upgrade notification — Mozilla plans to issue automatic upgrade notices to Firefox 2 users, perhaps as soon as next week.

The message will prompt you to install Firefox 3, but of course, if really don’t want to, you can always ignore the notice.

However, as we said when it was released, you really should upgrade. Not only does Firefox 3 offer the latest security patches and much improved JavaScript support, it’s also leaner, faster, and easier on your PC’s hardware.

Maybe it’s because we started using Firefox 3 way back in the alpha test stages, but we can’t imagine being stuck with version 2.0.x any more — give the upgrade a try, we promise you won’t be disappointed.
