ParaWorks Review – A New High-Paying Gig Work App
In the world of gig economy apps, delivery gigs are some of the most profitable.
From getting paid to deliver packages to food, there are so many side gig apps that pay you to be a courier. If you want a flexible side hustle, this is excellent news.
However, one downside of many delivery gigs is that hourly pay isn't always super high. And it can be frustrating to get low-paying order after low-paying order.
Thankfully, ParaWorks, a new gig economy platform from the Para app, is seeking to change this.
With ParaWorks, you can find lucrative on-demand driving gigs as well as scheduled jobs. Ultimately, this helps you reduce the time you spend waiting around and puts more money in your pocket.
Time to dive into the new ParaWorks platform and what gig workers should expect.
What Is ParaWorks?
ParaWorks is a new gig economy platform from Para, an app that helps gig workers manage their orders and get more transparency about the offers they accept.
Para has been around for more than a year at this point, and it's packed with features.
For example, it has a useful auto accept/decline feature that helps you avoid bad orders automatically. And it also includes hidden offer information like the estimated delivery time, potential hidden tips, and more.
The app used to focus on delivery gigs like DoorDash. But it's since branched out to support Uber Eats, Uber, Grubhub, and Lyft.
And, its new ParaWorks platform takes things one step further. Its goal is to help delivery drivers find more work, earn more per hour, and multiapp more effectively.
If you're currently using paid driving apps like the ones I listed above, this is excellent news. Let's take a look at exactly how ParaWorks functions to help drivers earn more.
How Does ParaWorks Work?
Getting started with ParaWorks is fairly simple. All you have to do is sign up for Para, create your ParaWorks profile, and then begin claiming available jobs in your area.
Here's a more in-depth of each step to help you start.
1. Sign Up
ParaWorks is available for free on the Google and Apple app stores.
When you sign up, Para actually shares your driving history with its partners. This makes onboarding very quick, so you don't have to make a resume and then individually apply to companies or gigs to find work.
You don't have to go through tedious background checks either with partners since again, Paraworks is basically your resume.
Once you download the app and finish signing up, you can also view a list of available jobs in your area to get a quick idea of what's going on in your market.
2. Accept Jobs
You can find available gigs in the ParaWorks “works” tab. The in-app map highlights where gigs are and also how much they paid ahead of time.
This is a massive advantage over working for jobs like Uber Eats or Instacart where you never really know how much you're making per hour.
You can tap on an available gig to learn what's involved, like what you're delivering or how far you're driving. Currently, ParaWorks has several types of gigs you can complete, including:
- Grocery delivery
- Merchandise
- Courier delivery
- Large catering orders
The gig variety is nice since you can look for jobs that interest you. And again, the main selling point is that you know how much you're getting paid.
ParaWorks is also useful for multi-apping since you can browse it to find extra work if your other apps are being slow.
3. Complete Jobs
After you claim a job, ParaWorks sends you all of the information you need to do the gig. This includes information like when and where to show up as well as the drop-off address.
There are also a few gig categories with ParaWorks:
- Individual Gigs: These are one-time jobs with a one to two day completion window.
- On-Demand Gigs: These are more time-sensitive jobs that you need to complete ASAP.
- Shifts: These jobs require a certain number of hours from you.
- Route Delivery: This type of gig involves dropping off packages along a pre-scheduled route, similarly to Amazon Flex.
Showing up on time is important regardless of the job type. And, according to Para's website, completing more gigs increases the odds of getting more offers, so you can make more in the long run.
As you can see in this ParaWorks example before, it's a 5.4 mile delivery for a company called China Live. It pays $25.50, and you can see all of the offer information within the app.
4. Get Paid
ParaWorks pays you differently depending on the partner you work with. This is because ParaWorks has quite a few partners, some of whom process payments differently.
You can check out ParaWorks' payment schedule on its website. But know that for most gigs, Para processes payments every Tuesday via Gigwage. However, a few select partners use Gusto, Cash App, Venmo, and other payment processing platforms.
Ultimately, ParaWorks is a viable way to make quick money, and you're getting paid within a week of completing a job.
How Much Does ParaWorks Pay?
ParaWorks pays $25 per hour on average according to its website. How much you earn depends on the type of job you're doing and how many hours you work for. But you always know exactly how much you're getting paid before claiming a job.
And again, ParaWorks tends to pay more per hour than jobs like Uber Eats or DoorDash, which is a massive advantage. And if you get a long shift or route-delivery gig, you can make some pretty decent cash.
Some jobs also have arrival bonuses that pay you for completing all of your assigned tasks. You can also earn on-time bonuses, although not every job offers a bonus.
Where Is ParaWorks Available?
Currently, ParaWorks is available in several cities, including:
- Washington D.C.
- Los Angeles
- Orange County
- San Francisco
- San Jose
- Seattle
- Chicago
- New York City
- Austin
- Philadelphia
- Denver
ParaWorks is also expanding to new markets like West Palm, Miami, Salt Lake City, Huntsville, Oklahoma City, and Minneapolis. You can also sign up to receive a notification if and when ParaWorks comes to your area.

Pros & Cons
Pros:
- ParaWorks pays more than most gig economy platforms on average
- You know exactly how much you're getting paid before claiming a shift
- You can complete numerous types of deliveries and shifts
- The Para app has other useful features for gig workers
Cons:
- ParaWorks is a new platform and isn't available in every city yet
- In some markets, ParaWorks might be slower than gig apps like DoorDash or Instacart
Ultimately, I think ParaWorks should be used in conjunction with other delivery gigs. It can help make your delivert side hustle more stable, and the hourly pay is great. Just don't rely on it for a full-time income or all your orders.
Useful ParaWorks Alternatives
As mentioned, ParaWorks is a useful app for supplementing your regular gig work with higher-paying jobs. And the general Para app has a host of tools that help make multi-apping easier.
That said, having a few main apps is still useful to keep orders coming in. Some of the most popular delivery gigs you can try out include:
- DoorDash: The leading food delivery app in North America that lets you deliver via bike, car, or scooter.
- Instacart: The leading grocery delivery service in North America.
- Amazon Flex: Lets you earn $18 to $25 per hour for delivering packages for Amazon.
- GoShare: An excellent package delivery gig, especially if you have a cargo van or pickup truck.
- Cornershop: A newer grocery delivery job like Instacart.
You can also add in more food delivery gigs like Uber Eats or Grubhub, both of which Para works with.
As long as you have a few apps on the go, there's no reason why you can't get steady deliveries to keep the cash coming in.

Who Should Use ParaWorks?
If you're currently multi-apping to make money in the gig economy, I think ParaWorks is worth trying. Para's useful suite of tools can help you accept better orders so you make more money. And, ParaWorks also offers high-paying gigs you can snag during your downtime.
A $25 average hourly rate is also excellent. And as ParaWorks expands to new markets, I'm hopeful it will keep expanding its list of delivery partners so there's more available work as well.
If you watch the video above, you'll also see what some other gig workers have to say about their experiences with Paraworks.
The main perks drivers like is how fast onboarding is with Paraworks. And, it pays more on average than other gig apps in pretty much any market.
If you're brand new to the gig economy, I think it makes more sense to sign up for a delivery platform like Amazon Flex or DoorDash.
This lets you learn the ropes of delivery gigs. Once you have some experience, you can begin multi-apping and add in apps like ParaWorks to the mix.

Final Thoughts
I hope this ParaWorks review and breakdown helps you understand how this new gig platform works and what to expect.
I've always thought that the gig economy has some amazing opportunities for people to increase their income. So when companies like Para try to help people make the most out of the gig economy, I'm on board.
While ParaWorks isn't available everywhere yet, I like the premise behind it. And if you're currently making money in the gig economy, this could be a nifty way to earn a little bit more.
