GMail Macros Updated To Work With The GMail
As those of you who’ve been upgraded can attest, the new GMail doesn’t play nice with many of the popular add-ons. Our favorite, the collection of GMail features in Better GMail, still isn’t ready, but one element of that package has been upgraded — GMail Macros.
GMail Macros is a Greasemonkey script that adds a number of keyboard shortcuts to the GMail interface. While the new version of GMail incorporated many of these shortcuts into the default interface, there are some that didn’t make the cut, which why Mihai Parparita, the man behind GMail Macros, has released an upgrade.
There aren’t quite as many shortcuts as previous version but there are some new ones like these:
- shift + i: Mark as read
- shift + u: Mark as unread
- shift + 3: Move to trash (not actually new, but not many people seem to know this one)
- shift + 8 followed by a, n, r, u, s, or t: Select all, none, read, unread, starred, or unread
Gmail Macros will work in any browser that supports Greasemonkey
Perhaps the most interesting thing in this release is that, as Parparita points out, the new version of GMail has a gmonkey element, which means GMail has at least semi-official Greasemonkey support.
At the moment there’s no mention of this in the GMail docs, but Parparita seems to think it will show up soon, which means there may be slew of new Greasemonkey scripts on the way to improve your GMail experience.
