Leger Opinion Review – Is LEO Legit & Worth Using?
Leger Opinion, or LEO, is a paid survey site that's available in Canada and the United States. And like other survey platforms, it pays you for sharing your opinion.
LEO is also Canada's largest survey company with over 400,000 users. But is it worth joining? And how much does it pay?
I signed up for Leger Opinion to test it out. And this LEO review is sharing how it works, its earning potential, and how to decide if it's worth using.

Key Takeaways
- A Canadian and U.S. survey platform
- Pays you with LEO points for answering surveys
- Points are redeemable for PayPal cash, free gift cards, and Aeroplan miles
- Also lets you earn bonuses with badges and referrals
Is Leger Opinion Legit?
LEO is legit and lets you earn gift cards for sharing your opinion. And it's one of the top paid survey sites in Canada. However, the company has a 1.7 star rating on Trustpilot and many negative reviews about slow payouts and a lack of surveys.
When I tried out LEO, I found the same thing. The user experience and website are great. But once you sign up and complete your profile, you don't get many surveys like you do with Survey Junkie or Branded Surveys.
Additionally, it seems like Canadian users have far more surveys than U.S. users. So, you can try out LEO in either countries, but know that you might not have too many surveys to answer every week.
What Is Leger Opinion & What Does It Offer?
LEO is a survey platform and mobile app that you can sign up for free if you live in the United States or Canada.
Signing up is quick and easy. Just enter your first and last name, email, and create a password. It's as simple as that.
We have to give LEO props here, specifically, because a lot of gpt sites have very bad UX design, on mobile and even on desktop. LEO’s design is clean, simple, streamlined, and easy to understand.
After you sign up, you complete an intro survey that takes about 5 minutes. It asks you demographic questions to help LEO match you to better surveys. You earn 500 points after completing it and 5 “chances.” The chances are tickets you can use to enter monthly prize drawings for free cash.
By the time you’re done with these introductory surveys, you could earn 1,800 points in just a matter of minutes. Once you’re done with that, available surveys appear on the “To Do Today” page.
Just note that surveys aren't always available. This is one of the downsides of Leger Opinion, so it's a slower earner than some more popular cash survey sites out there.
Love, Hate, Rate
LEO has an interesting feature called Love, Hate, Rate. You don't get any points for participating, but it's a good chance to make yourself be heard about any brand or business you recently interacted with.
You can type any business into the blank. I decided to input Dunkin Donuts. You then pick from five emojis that summarize your experience in a simple facial expression: horrible, disappointing, average, positive, or awesome.
You can submit your survey when you’re done. Again, you don’t get paid for these, but I guess it's LEO's way of making the platform a bit more fun.
Leo Badges
Leo Badges are another easy way to get points and more sweepstake entries. All you need to do is the required task associated with that badge. These include:
- Activate the badge program (10 chances)
- Download the LEO app (300 points and 3 chances)
- Complete 8 surveys (50 points and 1 chance)
- Complete 5 surveys of 1-10 minutes (50 points and 5 chances)
- Complete 4 surveys of 11-15 minutes (80 points and 4 chances)
- Complete 3 surveys of 16 – 20 minutes (90 points and 3 chances)
- Complete 2 surveys of 21- 30 minutes (140 points and 4 chances)
- Complete 1 31+ minute survey (100 points and 2 chances)
- Invite a friend by email (200 points and 5 chances)
- Invite a friend via text message (200 points and 5 chances)
Take note that there are 6 levels of badges, so you can keep on earning more and more points and chances. Also take note that for earning the last two badges, your friend must actually sign up and complete their registration.

LEO Referrals
That brings us to our next point, which is referrals. You can get 1,000 points per referral (this is in addition to the badges). Referrals are at the bottom of the “To Do Today” tab, under “extras.” You’ll see a button to “invite a friend.” The friend must:
- Register and validate their registration (e.g. email confirmation)
- Complete their profile
- Answer at least one survey
If you can get more than 100 referrals per month, you could become an affiliate member with a revised compensation plan (e.g. more money). For that, you need to contact Leger directly. But this is an exciting chance to earn passive income.
Contests
LEO also has periodic contests to win prizes like a $75 DoorDash gift card or a king-sized Aurora mattress. We couldn’t locate an “evergreen” contests page once you’re logged in, although there is a contests page URL. We assume when the contests are open, they show up in the app and on the site.
Recall that you use your “chances” as entry tickets. Also take note that “chances” do not carry over from month to month. If you want your chances to count, you have to use them all for that particular month’s contest.

Cashing Out & Rewards
Once you have 20,000 LEO points, you can start cashing out. LEO lets you cash out with PayPal money, gift cards, and more unique prizes like Aeroplan miles points.
Most rewards start at 10,000 LEO points for a $10 reward. But many gift cards and prepaid Mastercards require 20,000 points to cash out $20.
A $20 cash out minimum for gift cards is very high. In contrast, websites like Freecash and Swagbucks let you cash out from $1 to $5 depending on the reward.
The amount of time it takes to receive these rewards also depends on which one you choose. LEO says that PayPal transfers may take 10 business days, while most of the gift cards take 7. Donations may take up to 30 days, but air miles take 24-48 hours.

Earning Potential
How much you make with LEO depends on how many surveys you qualify for. But for most people, making $5 to $20 per month is a realistic amount to earn. That's because Leger Opinion surveys aren't always available, so you might not have the opportunity to earn every day.
This is why mixing in other reward apps and survey sites is a good idea so you always have chances to make money.

Is Leger Opinion A Scam?
No, LEO isn't a scam. But the main complaint users have is that surveys aren't always available. People on Trustpilot also complain about frequent disqualifications, as well as getting disqualified after answering dozens of prequalification questions.
The Best LEO Alternatives
After trying out Leger Opinion, I think it's a decent survey site. But it's not an A-tier player because of the low number of surveys and $20 cash out minimum.
For this reason, I suggest checking out these LEO alternatives:
These sites aren't going to make you rich. But I think they're a realistic way to boost your monthly income, all from the comfort of your own home.

LEO has a free survey app you can download for Android and iOS.

Final Thoughts
As Canada's largest survey site, Leger Opinion is popular for a few reasons. Its great UI, easy sign-up process, and cash giveaways are selling points. Plus, I like the variety of rewards.
That said, I won't be using Leger Opinion as my main site. Lots of side hustles and alternatives like Branded Surveys and Freecash simply pay more. Plus, they let you cash out a lot faster.
Hopefully, this LEO review helps you decide if it's worth signing up for.
