When I tested it out for this review, I found that the website was very easy to use. I also like that it makes signing up fast and simple.

Here are the requirements for testers:

• Be able to speak English.
• Live in Canada, the UK, or the United States.
• Have an Android phone that's 5 (Lollipop) or newer. Alternatively, have an iOS device running iOS 12 or 13 – this is basically an iPhone 5 or higher or iPod Tough 6G.
• Be comfortable talking out loud while testing games.

Now, PlaytestCloud states you can still sign up if you live outside their list of supported countries and they'll let you know if testing opportunities become available.

However, for now, I'd consider this a North America and UK-only side hustle.

2. Sign Up

To sign up for PlaytestCloud, head to their tester section and begin the application process. You must provide the following information to sign up as a tester:

• Email address
• Full name
• What games you like to play on your phone (you can also mention console or PC games)
• Your gaming device (phone model)
• Country, gender, and age

You then agree to the terms of service and Privacy Policy to submit your PlaytestCloud application.

I was able to sign up in about 2 minutes, so the platform is quite beginner-friendly.

3. Pass The Qualification Test

If PlaytestCloud wants to bring you onto the platform, it sends you a qualification test.

Note: this test is unpaid!

However, the qualification test is meant to teach you how to properly test mobile games and how to give valuable feedback to app developers.

This test is a short, 5-minute or so test where you play a test game and verbalize your thoughts and feedback. This is very low pressure, but if you want to increase the chance you pass, make sure you keep talking while using the app and mention features you enjoy and dislike.

Remember, the client is the app developer, so they need to learn what aspects of their app you like and dislike to help them improve their app.

If you fail the test, PlaytestCloud gives you some feedback so you know how to improve your testing process.

The test is free to take, and you can also take it as many times as you like if you really want to get into the platform.

4. Get Test Invites

Once you're approved to test games, PlaytestCloud will periodically email you testing opportunities.

These emails include the following information:

• The app you're testing and a link to download it
• Instructions to play the game and upload your recording
• A post-test survey which you also have to complete to get paid

Emails also include payment information. Commonly, PlaytestCloud gigs will pay a small bonus for talking a certain percentage of the testing session and for uploading your session quickly.

You also get information about the base rate.

5. Complete Tests & Get Paid

If a testing session seems worth it, you can claim it and download the app through the invite email.

PlaytestCloud also installs software on your phone that lets you record your screen, voice, and touch so app developers get a better idea of how you're using their app.

Now, for actual testing sessions, it's once again important to give as much meaningful feedback as possible. Some points you can mention include:

• Different user-interface (UI) elements you like or dislike
• Things that confuse you
• Bugs you encounter
• Suggestions to improve certain features

Sometimes, clients will include specific testing instructions or in-game tasks you have to complete. In this case, do everything the client asks.

Testing sessions take approximately 15 minutes between playing and answering the post-test survey.

PlaytestCloud pays around $9 per 15-minute testing session. This is $USD or $GBP depending on what country you're in, and you can cash out with PayPal a few days after completing a test.

Now, it's important to note that this is just a side hustle to make quick money, not a way to replace your day job.

PlaytestCloud states they send out over 100,000 test requests per day, but there's also a lot of testers, so you're not guaranteed to get a steady stream of invites.

Ultimately, I'd put Playtest Cloud in the $9 to $100 per month range, with $100 being very lucky.

In reality, this is just a nice side hustle to buy yourself some extra groceries or something fun every once in a while. Alternatively, you can take the extra money you make with PlaytestCloud and use the funds to start another side hustle, like starting a blog.

Whatever you decide, remember: this isn't a huge source of extra income.

If you want more meaningful ways to increase your income, I suggest delivering food for DoorDash or Uber Eats or trying other side gig apps.

So, in my opinion, PlaytestCloud is best if:
