How To Make $1,000 In 24 Hours
1. Sell Stuff You Own
The most classic way to do this is to just do some Spring cleaning, host a garage sale, and to sell stuff you don't need to people in your neighborhood.
But, thanks to the power of the internet, you can also try a variety of other online selling methods to make money fast, including:
- Selling things on the Facebook Marketplace
- Using websites like Poshmark to sell your clothing and accessories
- Selling jewelry and watches online with marketplaces like Worthy
- Selling old electronics and phones on websites like Gizmogo
- Using local selling websites like Craigslist to get rid of some old stuff
Between these options, it should be quite easy to sell stuff for $1,000 or more. Of course, you need to have some valuable assets to sell, but this is one of the fastest ways to make money if you're in a pinch.
Commonly, people sell things like clothing, luxury goods, toys, books, and furniture on these sorts of marketplaces. In the past, I've made fast cash by selling clothing, furniture, and even an old guitar when I needed money back in college.
And if you don't feel like selling your stuff outright, you can always try pawning things instead to make $1k in a day.
2. Start A New Side Hustle Stack
A side hustle stack is what it sounds like: a collection of hustles you use to make extra cash.
I've used this tactic throughout my life to earn more money per week. And in some cases, it's possible to make $1k in a day if you find the right hustles. Some of my all-time favorites include:
- Using cash survey sites like Branded Surveys and Survey Junkie
- Freelance writing
- Using get-paid-to sites like Kashkick and Freecash
- Gig economy apps like DoorDash or Uber
- House sitting for people
Chances are, a single idea from this list won't reach the 1k goal. But you can stack these ideas together or with your day job to increase your odds for success.

3. Blogging & Affiliate Marketing
If you want to learn how to make $1,000 quickly, starting a blog isn't for you. But, if you want to create an income generating asset that can pay you for years to come, it's worth considering.
The thing about blogging is that it opens the door for some serious passive income from sources like affiliate marketing and display ads.
Here's a personal example: In 2020, WebMonkey earned $22,000 between Mediavine ads and affiliate programs. Then, in 2021, my blog grew to $92,000 in income. And in 2022, WebMonkey made $272,000, which is on track for the $1,000 a day goal.
This is all semi-passive income, and more recently, there have been days of making $500 a day for the blog from just display ads, which is insane to see.
And, on plenty of occasions, WebMonkey has actually made 1k in 24 hours between Mediavine income and affiliate sales:
Similarly, a lot of bloggers sell their own products or coaching plans, so blogging again opens doors for you to get creative and make some serious money. And you can start your own blog with a host like SiteGround for under $10 a month.
This is the host I used to grow WebMonkey to my first 50,000 monthly readers, and it's what I recommend for beginner bloggers to grow.
4. Borrow The Money
If you need to get $1,000 right now and don't have time to hustle, your best option might be to borrow the funds.
I prefer selling things I own if I need quick cash. But you can also turn to options like cash advance apps if you want to get money in one hour.
Asking family members or friends can also help. Alternatively, you can use companies like Upgrade to borrow up to $50,000 or apps like EarnIn to spot you extra cash until your next paycheck. You can also check out other lending apps like Super.com and Cleo that advance you cash too.
My only advice here is to avoid costly things like payday loans since the interest rates on these loans can be very hard to pay off in the long run.

5. Start An Ecommerce Business
I've worked in ecommerce for more than five years. And if there's one thing I've learned, it's that you can make a lot of money in a short amount of time by selling things online.
Some of my favorite ecommerce side hustles you can start include:
- Selling physical or digital products on your own Shopify store
- Starting a dropshipping business (you can launch one on Shopify and use Spocket to find winning products)
- Launching a B2B marketing agency
- Selling online courses
- Selling eBooks
- Becoming an ecommerce consultant
- Starting an Etsy print on demand shop with a company like Printify
Many of my friends are also involved in ecommerce. And one of them actually sells pottery and crafts on her Shopify store and has product launch days every month or two and then sells out rapidly.
Overall, ecommerce is definitely a way to make $1,000 in a day. Just note that it takes time to build a brand and audience and to find winning products.
6. Create Passive Income Streams
Want a low-maintenance business idea? Well, you can always consider creating passive income streams for yourself as you work towards your income goals.
Some realistic ways to make $1,000 in passive income include:
- Investing in real estate with companies like Arrived
- Investing in dividend-paying stocks
- Renting out things for money, like a spare room on Airbnb or spare space on Neighbor
- Fixed-income investments like bonds and CDs
- Renting out your car with Turo
- Renting out a parking spot with SpotHero
Choosing the right idea depends on your starting capital and goals, but these are all viable in my opinion! And remember: you can always create a side hustle stack with a few of these ideas to compound your daily income that much faster.
7. TikTok & YouTube
TikTok and YouTube have amazing potential for content creators who want to go viral. I mean, a single viral video on YouTube can pay you thousands or tens of thousands of dollars.
I learned this first-hand with my own YouTube channel, where one of my videos on making money online as a teenager went semi-viral and is now approaching 600,000 lifetime views.
That video took about 3 hours to make and has earned almost $7,000 since it went live.
TikTok follows a similar premise. And if you're selling a course, product, or marketing your brand, a single viral TikTok video can lead to thousands of visitors to your website and, ultimately, a spike in conversions.

8. Do Cash Odd Jobs
Cash odd jobs are one way my friends and I made money during school. One of my friends would clean windows for people in the neighborhood, and another one did landscaping for clients.
Examples of other odd jobs you can do for fast cash include:
- Babysitting
- Cleaning
- Delivering packages
- Furniture assembly
- Gutter cleaning
- Handyman work
- Helping people move
- Junk removal
- Personal training
- Pet grooming
- Tech help
- Tree and stump removal
- Window washing
If you need a starting point to find gigs, marketplaces like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace are one excellent starting point.
You can also use apps like Steady to find same-day pay jobs or new local side hustles. Wonolo is a similar app as well that has plenty of gig opportunities.
Of course, making $1,000 in 24 hours will take a lot of grinding and some luck. But you can always stack these hustles with other income sources to reach your goal.
9. Design Websites For People
I think freelancing and selling your skills online is generally an excellent way to make decent money. And it can certainly make $1,000 in 24 hours if you're in the right field.
Personally, I'm a freelance writer, and there have been days where I've written the entire day and earned $500 to $750 or so. This isn't quite making $1,000 a day, but I firmly believe freelancing can set you on this path if you specialize enough.
Take website design for example. If you look on marketplaces like Fiverr for custom website designs, you can find plenty of sellers offering their services for over $1,000 per project.
And, these sellers get business. Plus, speaking from experience, I actually paid someone over $1,000 in the past to redesign WebMonkey.
The project took some emailing back and forth and talking about the design, but in terms of actual technical work, it was nowhere near 24 hours.

10. Offer Group Coaching Classes
Over the last year, a few people have reached out to me to ask if I offer online coaching to help people make money online or start their own blog.
In the past, I've also had a few coaching calls with people to go over Facebook and Google Ads, since those platforms were my life for about 5 years at my old job.
I charged $200 for an hour of the ads consulting, and I have yet to host a paid blogging call. But, if there's one thing that's clear, it's that people are willing to pay good money if you're an expert at something.
And, one thing I've also learned is that group coaching is where the money is at. I mean, instead of charging one person $200 per hour for an online coaching call, what if you charged 50 people $50 to attend an online seminar you're hosting?
That's $2,500 instead of $200, and spending $50 on an online event sounds much more reasonable to people.
11. Consulting
Like online coaching, consulting is another way to make a lot of money in a very short amount of time.
Now, can you make $1,000 in a day as a consultant? Well, I definitely think so. I've offered SEO consulting in the past when I was making money in college and even more recently by using Upwork and my network.
Both times, I charged a $1,000 to $2,000 monthly retainer or project-fee for clients, and all-in-all, I think each month had around 10 to 15 hours of work, so around $66 to $100 per hour.
This is honestly mid-level for SEO consulting, and I know a few people from my time in ecommerce who charge much more than this. But this idea isn't just limited to SEO. There's a variety of other industries and departments that hire consultants, including:
- Finance
- Digital marketing
- HR
- IT
- Legal
- Management
- Strategy and business development
Again, you need to be an expert in your given field and likely have some sort of specialized knowledge to be valuable. But, if this is you, I think it's worth reaching out to companies and your network to explore some consulting opportunities.

12. Sell Seasonal Products
While this isn't the most consistent hustle, if you currently sell products on marketplaces like Etsy, it might be time to consider some seasonal products.
The benefit of selling seasonal products is that if your product goes viral or does well, you can generate a surge of sales due to increased, temporary interest.
Etsy sellers do this all the time for holidays and events like Christmas, Easter, Father's day, Mother's day, Halloween, and Saint Patrick's day. And, you can tell this works. Just check out how this Etsy shop owner sold this St. Patrick's day shirt over 3,000 times judging by the number of product reviews!
At $26.99, that's over $80,000 in revenue, and you bet a lot of these sales would have come on the days leading up to St. Patrick's day every year.
And you don't have to stick to holidays or special events here. There are people who make money selling memes based off of recent events, so you could take a political gaff or a trending meme and potentially turn it into a semi-viral product if you strike the right cord with consumers.
13. Ask For A Raise
According to Indeed, reasons to ask for a raise include taking on more responsibility, getting a promotion, and being with the company for several years.
Now, a rule of thumb is to be at a job for at least 6 months before asking for a raise. Additionally, another soft rule is to only ask for a raise once a year.

14. Win Competitions
Entering competitions is another strategy you can use to make a lot of money in a short period of time. And while it might sound unlikely to pull off, you'd be surprised at how many opportunities are out there.
I'll give you an example: in my last year of college, a marketing competition called Canada's Next Top Ad Exec was going on in Canada.
You had to create a marketing plan for Home Depot, and the first 25 teams got $1,000 in free gift cards. From there, the top 10 teams competed for $25,000.
Anyway, I was sitting in my marketing lecture when my prof mentioned that under 100 teams enter per year. I was shocked, so I went home, spent an hour writing a two page marketing proposal, and submitted it. How hard would it be to place in the top 25 in a group of marketing kids anyway?
Well, that was the easiest $1,000 I ever made.
The fact that I made money in an hour might sound surprising, but stuff like this happens all the time. So, try entering writing competitions to make money as a creative writer, or graphic design contents, or just applying to scholarships if you're in school.
You never think you can win these things, but that's how everyone thinks, so barely anyone enters!
15. Sales Jobs
Personally, I love commission work. The first job I had out of school was at an advertising agency that had a low starting salary but paid us around 10% to 20% of the profits we generated.
During awesome advertising periods, like Black Friday and Christmas, there were a few times I got close to or surpassed making $1,000 in 24 hours when a particular campaign went super well.
That's just one example, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some of the top commission-based sales jobs include:
- Sales engineers
- Wholesale and manufacturing sales representatives
- Financial sales agents
- Advertising sales agents
- Insurance sales agents
- Travel agents
Of course, other jobs like being a real estate agent or car salesperson are other examples, but you get the idea. If you like working with people and are charming, commission jobs are definitely worth considering.
16. Flip Stuff
One final idea you can try is to buy and flip things for a quick profit.
This is a classic side hustle, and there are so many popular things to flip. Some of my favorite categories include clothing, furniture, and electronics. But people even flip things like websites, domain names, and NFTs these days.
You can also get started by looking for cheap or free items in your neighborhood. With a bit of DIY care, you can repair these items and then flip them for an easy profit.

Final Thoughts
I hope this guide on how to make $1,000 in 24 hours helps you reach your financial goal as quickly as possible.
This is honestly a lot of money to make in a very short amount of time, but I think all of the methods in this list have the potential. Additionally, don't forget to play some financial defense as well to reach this goal faster!
Things like cutting your expenses and using various reward apps can help keep more money in your pocket, potentially lessening how much money you need to make.
